Hannah Heil has joined The Catholic Times as a reporter to cover Catholic news and events in the Diocese of Columbus.
Heil’s first day with the newspaper and its website, catholictimescolumbus.org, was Monday, Feb. 6.
She comes to The Times from Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s office, where she worked as an administrative assistant for the Department of Boards and Commissions for more than a year.
“The Office of Communications is excited to welcome Hannah Heil as the newest member of The Catholic Times team,” said Jason Mays, diocesan director of communications. “We look forward to the stories of our faith she’ll be telling as she travels across the Diocese of Columbus.”
Heil is a 2017 graduate of Columbus Bishop Watterson High School and a 2021 graduate of the University of Dayton, where she majored in communications with a concentration in journalism and with minors in pre-law and Spanish.
The Columbus native is a member of St. Agatha Church.
She fills a position that had been vacant since July 2021 after the retirement of longtime Times reporter Tim Puet, who remains a contributor.
Emma Noel, a member of the diocesan communications staff as a graphic designer, also began working with The Times last fall in layout and design of the newspaper. She is largely responsible for recent changes to the look of the paper.
