As in years past, several Columbus St. Charles Preparatory School graduates have received full scholarships, covering tuition, room and board and additional expenses such as study abroad and books, from several universities.

James Marinas will attend the University of Texas-Dallas. He plans to study cognitive science in pursuit of a career in medicine. At graduation, he was recognized as having the highest grade-point average in the class (4.4), and he scored a 36 on the American College Test as a junior.

Jackson Congrove will attend the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York. He joins four other St. Charles graduates, all from the Class of 2020, there now. He plans to major in systems engineering and pursue an engineering career in the Army.

Anthony “Rocco” Giannotti received the Glenna Joyce Scholarship to the University of Notre Dame. He plans to study political science in pursuit of a career in law and public policy. Last summer, he interned at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, assisting with naturalization ceremonies and new voter registration along with archiving civil cases.

Trenton Wells was awarded Ohio State University’s top academic scholarship, the Morrill Scholarship. He plans to study finance in pursuit of a career in sports business.

He has participated during the past two years with the Ohio State Student Leadership Research Collaborative, in which he and three other St. Charles students met weekly to discuss, address and find ways to improve the student retention rate at St. Charles.

This led the school to create the Learning Formation Program and Center, a new daily scheduled enrichment period, a shared teacher calendar to help coordinate when tests and quizzes are given, and the hiring of staff members to support these approaches.

Daniel Ferguson will attend the University of Oklahoma, where he plans to study environmental science in hopes of having a career in law.
