Columbus St. Charles Preparatory School presented diplomas to 126 members of the Class of 2025 during its commencement ceremony, preceded by a baccalaureate Mass, on Friday, May 23 in the Robert C. Walter Student Commons.
Ninety-seven percent of the graduates will be going to four-year colleges, 2 percent to two-year colleges and 1 percent taking a gap year in the fall. They will be attending 60 different colleges. The class earned nearly $34.3 million in scholarship money and performed 7,500 hours of community service.
Ten of the graduates were recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corp./College Board. Alexander Dininni, Arav Fernandes, Jack Miller, and Jackson Soder were National Merit finalists and Edward “Quaid” Cahill, Emmett Galvin, Miles Hockenberry, Eli MacKim, John Paul Orenchuk and Ian Rotruck were commended scholars.
Colby DeShetler received the Joyce Scholarship to the University of Notre Dame and was offered a full U.S. Air Force ROTC scholarship to Duke University. Tiernan Hunter accepted an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy Prep School at West Point, New York. Arav Fernandes (U.S. Air Force) and Emmett Galvin (U.S. Navy) accepted ROTC scholarships to Notre Dame.
Andrew Zarick was selected as the 2024-2025 Jack Ryan Scholar-Athlete. DeShetler, Fernandes, Ruiz, Galvin, Hockenberry and Miller received Ohio Governor’s Scholarships.
