For the fifth straight year, Reconciliation Monday will take place at parishes around the diocese at the beginning of Holy Week on April 14.

Priests will be on hand to hear confessions at many churches from 4 to 7 p.m. during the diocese’s fifth annual Reconciliation Monday. The schedule of confessions for participating parishes may vary. All those who wish to avail themselves to the sacrament should check bulletins or online listings for exact times.

In addition to Reconciliation Monday, other days and times are made available at parishes to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation throughout the season of Lent leading to Easter Sunday on April 20.

The diocese’s first Reconciliation Monday took place on March 29, 2021, under the direction of former Bishop Robert Brennan as parishes were recovering from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, which prevented all public worship in Ohio for more than two months from March through late May 2020.

This year’s event, like the previous four, takes place on the Monday after Palm Sunday.

When the diocese instituted Reconciliation Monday, it also initiated 40 Days of Adoration, which occurs during the 40 days of Lent leading up to Holy Week.

One or more parishes in the diocese has a designated day and time for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament during the 40 days.

This year’s remaining schedule leading up to Holy Week for 40 Days of Adoration is as follows: Monday, April 7, Columbus St. Leo the Great Oratory; Tuesday, April 8, Washington Court House St. Colman of Cloyne Church; Wednesday, April 9, Hilliard St. Brendan the Navigator Church; Thursday, April 10, Westerville St. Paul the Apostle Church; Friday, April 11, Lancaster St. Bernadette Church; Saturday, April 12, Gahanna St. Matthew the Apostle Church; and Sunday, April 13, Columbus St. Catharine of Siena Church.
