Susan Birie
Funeral Mass for Susan Birie, 70, of Fredericktown, who died Friday, March 14, was celebrated Monday, March 17 at Mount Vernon St. Vincent de Paul Church. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery, Mount Vernon.
She was born on August 20, 1954, in Mount Vernon to the late Harold Brown and Wanetta (Boyce) Beckholt.
After 36 years as a marketing education teacher, she became religious education director at St. Vincent de Paul Church, which with Danville St. Luke Church is part of the Knox County St. John the Baptist Parish.
Survivors include her husband, Deacon Tim Birie; a son, Christopher (Marianne}; a daughter, Elizabeth; brothers Steve (Alverta) Brown and Stanley Brown; sisters Sheila (Steve) Zieg and Sandra (Don Snyder) Overholt; and one grandson.
Arlene E. Dusini
Funeral Mass for Arlene E. Dusini, 89, who died Sunday, March 9, was celebrated Wednesday, March 19 in New Philadelphia Sacred Heart Church. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery, New Philadelphia.
She was born in Uhrichsville on March 6, 1936, to F. Oren and Ruth (Bailey) Gray.
She graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1954 and attended Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts. After leaving college, she moved to Washington, D.C. and San Francisco, where she worked as a civilian for the U.S. Navy Department.
After returning to Ohio, she married her husband, Frank, worked as a bookkeeper at Chase Bank and served for many years as the Sacred Heart Church organist.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Verne. Survivors include sons Brian (Victoria), Marc (Marie) and Doug (Rachel), daughters Cassy (Tim) Gowins and Tanja (Kris) Birtcher; a brother, Wayne; three grandsons, six granddaughters and two great-grandchildren.
