Columbus Bishop Watterson High School awarded diplomas to 215 graduating seniors on Saturday, May 25 in the school gymnasium. A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated there on Thursday, May 23.
Ninety-seven percent of the class members were accepted by a total of 160 institutions of higher education and received more than $29 million in college merit scholarship offers. They will be attending 56 different colleges and universities. Two percent will be attending a trade school or public safety academy and one percent are undecided or taking a gap or service year.
The school awarded 86 state honors diplomas, with 93 students receiving the Presidential Award for Excellence. Seven class members had perfect scores in individual subjects on the American College Test. Class members totaled 7,165 service hours.
There were 162 academic medals, presented for an “A” average all four years, awarded in individual subjects. Eleven students received service charity cords for at least 250 hours of community service.

Spiers Service Awards; Jennifer Daniels, Bishop Herrmann Service Award; and Michael Daniels, All-Diocesan Academic Honor Team.
Academic medals were presented to 96 students, 13 of whom received summa cum laude medals for posting grade-point averages of 4.15 or higher. Another 43 students were awarded magna cum laude medals (3.90 to 4.14 GPA) with 40 receiving cum laude medals (3.70 to 3.89).
