A Mass with Anointing of the Sick will be celebrated by Bishop Earl Fernandes at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9 at Columbus St. Joseph Cathedral.
For the past six years on the second Sunday of February, the Columbus Region of the Order of Malta has assisted with the Mass with Anointing in the diocese.
While the Sacrament of Anointing is reserved for those with serious illness, all are invited to accompany the sick in prayer and solidarity. Pews will be reserved for those who are to receive anointing.
The Catholic Church recognizes Feb. 11, the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, as World Day of the Sick. The annual observance was instituted by Pope St. John Paul II in 1993.
